A GoFundMe for an Indoor Skate Park on Pine Ridge Rez

2/3/26

If you can spare a few dollars, please donate to this GoFundMe today for an indoor skateboard park on Pine Ridge Reservation. There are so very few recreational outlets for the kids there; this one is important. Thanks so much for supporting Ground Control! Also, here’s a video about Pine Ridge. At minute 21:39 you’ll find an interview with Kyle Mesteth at Ground Control.

“What’s up Everybody my name is Kyle Mesteth and I am the Founder of Ground Control an Indoor Skatepark / Multi Media studio in the Heart of the Pine Ridge Reservation. Our mission is to give the youth of the reservation opportunities and a safe space where they can express themselves artistically. Any funds donated here will go to upgrading our building with heating and cooling, new lighting, plumbing, Skateboards and anything to make our safe space amazing for our youth to enjoy.”

Thanks to all who donated Halloween goodies, Christmas decorations and Christmas gifts to the skate park! We donated a popcorn maker recently and they are making popcorn daily for the kids. If you can donate some, it is an ongoing need. Sugar-free drink mix in pitcher-sized packets are welcome as well as they make 5 gallons daily. You can send it here:

Aaron Huey's effort to photograph poverty in America led him to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where the struggle of the native Lakota people — appalling, and largely ignored — compelled him to refocus. Five years of work later, his haunting photos intertwine with a shocking history lesson.
