How can I volunteer on the reservation?

Please visit Re-Member for further information on volunteer opportunities on Pine Ridge Reservation.

Can you help me find someone on the reservation?

Sorry, but we are not able to help locate individuals on the reservation. If you’re seeking friends or family and want to place a classified ad in the local newspaper, contact the Lakota Country Times, 605-685-1868.

Can you provide me with help?

FoPRR supports many organizations on Pine Ridge Reservation that in turn help many others. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide assistance to individuals or individual families.

I’d like to take some donations directly to the reservation and drop them off. Where can I deliver them?

Some of the organizations that FoPRR supports may not accommodate visitors, as they care for minor children, rehab patients, etc., and have confidentiality issues.

There are, however, many that are will accept donations in person. Please contact me and let us know what you have to donate. I’ll make a suggestion as to where you might drop them off and provide you with a phone number so you can make arrangements with the organization in advance of your arrival.

Can you give me an address?

Here is a list of addresses of Pine Ridge Related Organizations. This listing is not comprehensive.

Can you find a pen pal for me and/or my children?

Sorry, no.

Can you help me trace my ancestry?

No, but check this site for information on how to do so: https://www.doi.gov/tribes/trace-ancestry

Aaron Huey's effort to photograph poverty in America led him to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where the struggle of the native Lakota people — appalling, and largely ignored — compelled him to refocus. Five years of work later, his haunting photos intertwine with a shocking history lesson.
