2026 Thank You Letters

January 8, 2026 by FoPRR

**********************

This is from the two one-room Yurok elementary schools for our Halloween donations last year!

January 23, 2026

Dear Friends of the Pine Ridge Reservation,

On behalf of the entire Weitchpec Elementary School community, I want to extend my deepest and most heartfelt gratitude for your extraordinary generosity. Your donation of Halloween decorations and prizes brought so much joy and excitement to our students, and your kindness made a tremendous difference in our ability to host our Halloween Carnival this year.

Because of your support, our school was transformed into a festive, magical space filled with laughter, wonder, and excitement. Students walked through the halls with wide eyes and huge smiles, amazed by the decorations and thrilled by the variety of prizes they were able to win. Many families shared how special the event felt, and it was truly heartwarming to see our students experiencing such a memorable celebration—something made entirely possible because of your compassion and generosity.

Your continued support means more to us than words can express. You consistently uplift our school, our families, and most importantly, our children. Your willingness to give, to care, and to invest in our community creates lasting memories and reminds our students that there are people beyond our school walls who believe in them and want to brighten their world.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for making our Halloween Carnival unforgettable and for everything you do to support our school. We are truly grateful for your partnership and the positive impact you bring to our small but mighty community.

With the warmest appreciation,

Tanisha Warden
Secretary/Librarian/Media Tech

Thank you very much for the wonderful school supply items and clothing for our children here at American Horse School!  It has helped us tremendously to offset our budget cuts.  We are very grateful that our students have all they need to be successful!
There are many smiles as the students have what they need to strive and have a positive experience learning in school.

Friends of Pine Ridge,

Thank you very much for the wonderful Elders’ Christmas gifts!  They were very well received and brought much delight and happiness. These items were all greatly needed and it was a nice surprise for our Wisdom Keepers to enjoy a nice gift for themselves.

Thank you so much for your hearts and generosity. Have a Happy New Year!

This thank you letter is for the 2025 Christmas gifts we sent to Navajo children and elders, as well as general donations during the year!

January 6, 2026

Dear Chris,

Happy New Year!  We just returned from our 2-week break – we had a lot of clearing that we were doing for the kids.  Christmas activities were very fun for the kids. They had hot chocolate and storytelling sessions. All the kids were able to take home a gift that was donated. We had all the parents show up for Santa’s visit and the kids sang and danced for the Christmas program.

Thank you for the donations of clothes, towels, toys, food, yarn and other gifts of books. If we did not have the donations, we would not be able to send each child a gift, so thank you on behalf of the parents – the elders received gifts too.  THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

Etta Shirley, Principal

This thank you letter is from the Piñon High School Librarian for the books donated to Piñon Elementary, Middle and High School during 2025.

January 5, 2026

Dear Friends,

I am writing on behalf of the students and faculty at the Piñon elementary, middle and high schools to thank you for the generous donation of books to our libraries in these schools. Pinon, AZ is a small community on the Navajo Reservation. It is isolated; it takes two hours to drive to towns of any size. Unfortunately, it is plagued with many of the social ills common to Native American reservations. Student achievement and reading levels are generally low and literacy is seldom modeled in the home. The books you donated have been placed in the respective library collections so all students can benefit from them. Due to limited funding and the normal loss of books each year, additions to our libraries are welcomed!

Again, thank you all for your generous donations. The support you have given to our students and families is much appreciated and the message that literacy is important is invaluable.

Sincerely,

Mr. Loren Omoth
Librarian, Piñon High School

Aaron Huey's effort to photograph poverty in America led him to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where the struggle of the native Lakota people — appalling, and largely ignored — compelled him to refocus. Five years of work later, his haunting photos intertwine with a shocking history lesson.
