Chris,
Good morning hope you had an enjoyable Christmas and wishing you an awesome 2016. I’m looking forward to an awesome year! It’s amazing how far we’ve come at Wounded Knee District School and 80% of our success is due to your hard work.
I just want to thank you for all that you do for us and the many organizations you help. It’s truly phenomenal the difference that Friends of Pine Ridge has made in the lives of our children, which trickles down to make a difference in the lives of families and communities. I just want to thank you for that. I am so thankful that our children have their immediate needs met with clothing, boots, coats, hats, mittens, school supplies, nice back packs, books, goodie bags, gifts, snacks, Warrior store items, Baby FACE items, the list is endless.
I am so thankful because the students are smiling and are happy. We have 94% attendance at our school because the students love school. They feel safe and enjoy school. Now that their needs are being met, they are now able to focus on learning. This past testing, we saw a huge growth in reading and math! Although many are still not at grade level, they have made huge gains. They are very close to grade level!
I’d say that in another year or year and a half, our students will be at grade level! This is amazing when many were about 3-4 grade levels below. I can honestly say that at this rate, we will be at grade level and we will be a model school on our Pine Ridge Indian Reservation! It is so exciting to see the transformation and feel the positive vibes.
Thanks again to you and the Friends of Pine Ridge donors that truly give from the heart!

Friends of Pine Ridge,
I cannot thank you enough for your generous donations towards our turkey drive for Thanksgiving. You all have brought much goodness to the hearts of those struggling day to day.
There are now enough turkeys and some fixings for a full Thanksgiving dinner for every one of our families.
Our children will enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with their families and loved ones!
Thank you for all you do in making a positive difference in the lives of our children and their families.
Respectfully,
Alice Phelps

Friends of Pine Ridge,
I would like to extend a heart felt Thank you to each and every one of you for the hard work and dedication to our student needs. We received all the supplies and dispersed them to all the students at the start of our school year.
We put together backpacks ready to go for any new students here on out! Thank you for giving our children a head start in their learning. They feel good about having their very own school supplies. They are happy and the school year is off to an exciting start!
Sincerely,

Dear Friends of Pine Ridge,
I would like to take this time to thank each and everyone of you for your generous donation of the valentine cards, candy, decorations, treat bags, and all the goodies! The students all enjoyed these items in the school and in their classrooms!
They were very happy and excited to share these among each other. It was a very festive time during the tough times they have all experienced recently. Thanks for bringing smiles to their faces once again. We are very appreciative!
Thank you very much.

Dear Friends of Pine Ridge:
I would like to thank each and every one of you for your generous donation towards our Community Youth Summit! It was a very successful 2 day event. There were 67 adults and 120 students in attendance!
We had break out sessions on a variety of topics such as skits on bullying, how to catch the “red flags” on suicide so teaching and learning about suicide prevention, and also had some strong session for families in healing. We had a variety of entities that assisted us in providing these awesome topics for families.
Thank you all for the donations of drawings and paper good items! We are very thankful! We are planning another one February 21-22 called “Strengthening the Family Circle.”
Thanks again!
Respectfully,
Alice Phelps

Dear Chris & FoPRR:
The Wounded Knee Baby FACE program & families would like to say “Wopila” for all the items that were donated for the online Baby Shower. These items helped everyone and are an everyday necessity for babies and mothers. The blankets are warm and the families are enjoying them. All the knitted mittens, hats, blankets are always a need around the winter time.
We are also looking forward to a Car seat class on February 13th with the families and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety Injury Prevention Specialist Pam Pourier will be assisting with the class. The Baby FACE Program would also like to thank all the donors for the kind contributions to our community and program for everything that they have done. I would also like to share that it has increased our Literacy Program for our community and program which is awesome because children are being read to. Once again “WOPILA TANKA”!
Pila Miya,
