Thank You from Porcupine School Principal

Friends of Pine Ridge Reservation,

I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart! We all here at Porcupine School on the Pine Ridge Reservation are so thankful for all the heartfelt Halloween items that our school has received. It was truly a blessing to see our childrens eyes light up when they received items for their Halloween parties. It was an exciting opportunity for all to decorate their classrooms and enjoy the fun.

We also had plenty to have a Halloween Carnival for all our parents and many in the community to enjoy! The staff could not believe what wonderful quality the items were that came into our school from all of you.

It is truly a blessing to have you all giving from your hearts to our school, where the majority of our students go without. Thank you Friends of Pine Ridge! (Maybe you guys should consider changing your name to Guardian Angels of Pine Ridge)!!! That fits much better!!!!

Thanks for bringing us some sunshine, smiles, and laughter!

Sincerely,

Alice Phelps, Principal
Porcupine School
Porcupine, SD

Spread the love

Aaron Huey's effort to photograph poverty in America led him to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where the struggle of the native Lakota people — appalling, and largely ignored — compelled him to refocus. Five years of work later, his haunting photos intertwine with a shocking history lesson.
