Dear Chris:

I want to express my appreciation for your generosity in support of the Birth 2 Five Closet of the Virtual High School. Your personal commitment was incredibly helpful and allowed us to reach our goal in the establishment of the closet. Your assistance means so much to our teen parents and to their children.

This effort is now part of our Service Learning program and our students will be involved in giving to their communities–much in the way your thoughtful donors have given to the Birth 2 Five Closet.

Thank you from all of us here at VHS.

Dearest Friends of Pine Ridge Reservation:

Although you don’t know us personally, we are students that a are taking a different road to our education. It is the VHS–distance learning–traveling through our classes in English, Math, Science. Because we have everything through the computer we did not have a library in our classes. However, due to your support we are now beginning the Site Libraries with books on subjects we need to learn more about: LIFE SKILLS. Some are about being parents, how to prepare for college, handling money, and the 7 Habits of Successful Teens.

We wanted to just says, THANKS.

Aaron Huey's effort to photograph poverty in America led him to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where the struggle of the native Lakota people — appalling, and largely ignored — compelled him to refocus. Five years of work later, his haunting photos intertwine with a shocking history lesson.
