Thank Yous from Red Shirt School 2013

Chris and Friends,

Thank you so much for the music guides. Each day when a package arrived you should have seen the excited faces. Unfortunately, at this time our music program’s funding is in jeopardy. We don’t know for sure what to do. It takes about $250.00 per week for the lessons and we are running out of funds. We’re hoping something will change with our budget.

Thanks again for thinking of our students at Red Shirt.

Chris,

What a wonderful, thoughtful donation! Our students couldn’t wait for their Valentine’s Day classroom parties. They had so much fun and no one went without Valentines for their friends or treats. Your hearts were in the right place. Thank you from all of us at Red Shirt School.

Aaron Huey's effort to photograph poverty in America led him to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where the struggle of the native Lakota people — appalling, and largely ignored — compelled him to refocus. Five years of work later, his haunting photos intertwine with a shocking history lesson.
