A Thank You from the Partnership for Housing

April 30, 2016 by FoPRR

Here’s a thank you letter I received recently from the OST Partnership for Housing!

April 13, 2016

To: Friends of Pine Ridge

Oglala Sioux Tribe Partnership for Housing, Inc. (OSTPH) would like to express its sincere gratitude for the donation of three (3) laptop computers to help with our efforts for affordable housing and self-sufficiency here on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

In this digital age, much of our work involves specialized software and the ability to communicate and do work on the fly, whether at the office, traveling, or having to work from home due to weather or illness. The laptops help give us the mobility we need, plus a daily tool we can use to efficiently serve our Oglala Lakota people while at the off.

Again, our heartfelt thanks to those generous persons who have blessed us with these tools to better meet our commitment to our people. We also appreciate very much the support and belief in our work that the gifts from Friends of Pine Ridge represent.

Respectfully,

Emma “Pinky” Clifford
Executive Director

Aaron Huey's effort to photograph poverty in America led him to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where the struggle of the native Lakota people — appalling, and largely ignored — compelled him to refocus. Five years of work later, his haunting photos intertwine with a shocking history lesson.
