Thank Yous from Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary

Dear Donors,

My heart is overflowing with appreciation at all you have done to help our students start this new school year off in a good way. I have spent the last couple of days stocking our inventory bins with the new supplies you have sent our way. I feel this year will be a strong start for those who will come to school empty handed. We have plenty of supplies needed to get them rolling now.

We are so fortunate to have your generosity. It is such a beautiful sight to see our students walk in the first day of school so excited to be here and learn. Even though they may not have their supplies, through your generosity they are aware that they can let their teacher know what supplies they were unable to attain and in a matter of minutes, it is given to them. Smiles are so vibrant with that knowledge. Our students come to school knowing that they will be taken care of to the best of our ability.

May God Bless all of you for making this happen. We pray that you continue to have a wonderful 2012.

Sincerely,

Theresa Lessert

Hi Chris,

Wow! That was a great Easter drive. My 1st grade granddaughter comes to school early, so one morning we spent the morning separating goodies for the different grades. She was my little Santa. ha ha. We made individual boxes of a variety of Easter goodies and she delivered them to the different classrooms early.

The teachers had no idea and were so glad to see the wonderful selection of treats. Usually, we celebrate Easter with an all school Mass with the Passion Play done by our 5th grade class. It is a real treat. The lower grades have a party, but that is about all. The teachers were very surprised to receive such a great variety and the looks on our students told it all. It was great!

What would we do without all the support you have sent our way? I hope that each of you had a blessed Easter. We thank you once again for all of your generosity and kindness to our children. May God keep you in the warmth of his love forever. Wopila for making our students at Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary enjoy such a special Easter.

Sincerely,

Theresa Lessert, Principal

Good Morning Chris,

Boy, I sure hope I got enough sleep to make it through today after the fun of yesterday! I am so thankful to all the donors for the amount of gifts that were sent in. We had plenty of cups and napkins for the parties along with candy, cards, mini toys and treasures that contributed to the fun! The Valentine mazes were a huge hit!

Many of our children came to get Valentine cards to fill out. I was surprised at how many did not have any. The day was filled with gleaming, sparkling eyes and smiles at all the different things that we shared throughout the day. I gave each of the teachers a variety of candy and treasures to give out throughout the day just to keep the excitement going. The fun was never ending it seemed.

We are so appreciative at, once again the generosity of our donors. You sure know how to keep us smiling. You will be forever in our prayers. Thank you again and may God Bless each of you.

Theresa Lessert, Principal

Aaron Huey's effort to photograph poverty in America led him to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where the struggle of the native Lakota people — appalling, and largely ignored — compelled him to refocus. Five years of work later, his haunting photos intertwine with a shocking history lesson.
