A Kitchen Supplies Drive for the Yer’ ‘wo-‘ol Women’s Shelter on the Yurok Rez

 

There is a new domestic violence women’s shelter in the works on the Yurok Reservation.  The shelters name is Yer’ ‘wo-‘ol which means abalone house shelter and references a story about Abalone Woman. They’ve got a multiple bedroom house with a small patio, and yard for the kids and they’ll need plenty of help setting it up. We’re going to work on the kitchen to start so here’s what they need. Please take a look at the wishlist below and let me know if you can donate something. Large or small, every donation will bring about the ability to provide a safe haven for many Yurok women and children who have been impacted by domestic violence and give them a fresh start.

Also, if you sew, they’ll need at least 20, 20″ square cloth napkins (more would be great), aprons for women and 4 or more aprons for children as well as bibs of assorted sizes. If we get extra of these sewn, they’ll be distributed to the women who are able to move on to new residences of their own. Bright cheerful colors/prints would be perfect for these. Thank you!
